Art and Soul Counseling

I am a licensed clinical professional counselor (LCPC) and art therapist with a private practice in Bozeman, Montana.

As a licensed psychotherapist and body-centered art therapist I am informed by many experiences including: the time I have spent working alongside my clients, pursuing continuing education and professional supervision, engaging in my own therapy journey and from the in-depth training I received in transpersonal psychology, Hakomi, art therapy and art education, EMDR, the visual arts, and (last but not least!) shamatha vipassana meditation.

In 2005 I earned a Masters degree in Transpersonal Counseling Psychology from Naropa University in Boulder, Colorado with a concentration in art therapy. I have a Bachelors degree from Arizona State University in painting-drawing and art education (1998). More recently, I have trained in EMDR (2015) at the Maiberger Institute (EMDRIA certified program), and the body centered approach of Hakomi (2014-2015) through the Hakomi Institute in Boulder, CO.

My counseling background includes work in various settings: schools, a community art studio, a residential treatment center, a psychiatric facility, a crisis-counseling center and a hospital. In Bozeman I currently (2013) offer my services to children, adolescents and adults. My studio office is located in the historic downtown district just off Main Street.

My ideal client is invested in personal growth and is open to engaging in using art making as a part of their healing process. Clients who seem to experience the most positive changes are those who take an active role in counseling. You might be a teen or an adult, wrestling with a noisy inner critic that manifests in a mood disorder, a behavioral problem or some sort of negative coping strategy. Chances are you are moving through a significant life change. This might be an educational or career shift, having a child, getting married or divorced, grieving a loss.

I work in a holistic way, offering a combination of traditional talk psychotherapy, art therapy and body centered methodologies. These are ways to tapping into your unconscious beliefs and the deep well of wisdom that inform who you are and how you operate. This type of insight is what we are after.

I function as a support to you in your healing process. My goal is not to offer you advice, but to help you find your own voice. The cultivation of a mindful and compassionate approach to living an authentic life is at the heart of my offerings.
